Fabian Bodensteiner, Managing Director of the World Foundation, stated that "in an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is indistinguishable from humans, a digital infrastructure is needed to define and protect 'humanness'."

At 'BUIDL Asia 2025' held in Songpa-gu, Seoul on the 15th, Bodensteiner said, "As AI technology advances, it is becoming difficult to distinguish whether digital human activities such as account creation and behavior tracking are performed by actual people," and "the goal of World (WLD) is to build a global identity verification and financial network to solve this."

He explained, "On platforms like YouTube, viewing records generated by bots are becoming the basis for advertising revenue distribution, negatively impacting both content creators and advertisers," and "World aims to create a structure where global users can prove their uniqueness as humans through World ID."

World ID is a privacy-preserving identity protocol that proves 'humanness' based on the user's biometric information without collecting or storing personal information. Biometric information is not stored on a central server but is distributed across multiple nodes. Additionally, the 'AMPC (Anonymous Multi-Party Computation)' method is applied to verify uniqueness while ensuring anonymity.

Bodensteiner stated, "Users can issue and verify their identity through the World app by obtaining a World ID," and "the World app has simplified the UX to be user-friendly and adopted a consumer-friendly interface like WhatsApp or Robinhood."

He emphasized, "25 million people worldwide are using World ID, and among them, 12 million have completed human verification through the iris recognition device 'Orb'," adding, "The total accumulated transactions amount to 320 million."

Collaboration with Singapore-based global gaming company Razer was also announced. Razer plans to integrate WorldID login into its payment network 'Razer Gold', introducing a system that provides in-game rewards or discounts exclusively to 'human users'. This aims to prevent indiscriminate reward abuse by bots and enhance user experience.

Bodensteiner explained, "Ultimately, in an era where AI makes all economic decisions, we must choose what structures and standards to create," and "World is a system designed to allow humans to prove themselves and maintain sovereignty in the digital society." He added, "The next roadmap will be unveiled with Sam Altman in San Francisco on the 30th of this month," and "we hope developers and partners worldwide will participate."
