Hong Jun-pyo, former mayor of Daegu, who is running in the 21st presidential primary, expressed his intention to actively foster new businesses in virtual assets (cryptocurrency).

On the 16th (local time), former Daegu Mayor Hong Jun-pyo announced at a policy presentation held in Yeouido, "To foster blockchain and virtual assets as new industries, I will abolish regulations related to virtual assets as much as the Trump administration in the United States," and "I will introduce blockchain technology into the public sector and administrative services overall."

He then put forward an active pro-virtual asset pledge. He said, "I will introduce an official digital wallet to create an environment where investors can easily trade virtual assets," and "I will significantly reduce the costs of issuing traditional currency through the introduction of Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC)."

In addition, he presented a vision related to virtual assets, including △ enhancing competitiveness through the issuance of a stable Korean won coin and △ introducing a new payment system using stablecoins. He also mentioned the introduction of a 'Gate Free' system that allows new technologies and businesses to enter without prior government approval.

Meanwhile, on this day, former Mayor Hong announced 27 pledges emphasizing the principle of a private-led economy.
