On the 8th (local time), Cho Young-jung, CEO of Gopax, stated at the 'Gopax Victim Relief Seminar' held at the 10th conference room of the National Assembly Hall in Yeouido, Seoul, "According to current law, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) should approve Binance's acquisition of Gopax. However, it has not been done," and added, "Please take action according to the law." He further expressed willingness to open everything if there are concerns about money laundering related to Gopax, indicating that he is open to having authorities monitor 365 days a year.
He also expressed dissatisfaction with FIU's delay in granting approval. He said, "Since 2023, measures to relieve victims have been realized," and "FIU is delaying the acquisition approval without a clear answer." He reiterated, "I cannot understand why FIU keeps delaying the acquisition approval," and emphasized again, "Please take action according to the law."
Finally, he conveyed apologies and gratitude to the victims. CEO Cho said, "I am sorry and apologetic to the victims. Although there are legal solutions such as payment claims, I am grateful for your understanding and patience over a long period."
