According to the industry on the 8th, candidate Lee made these remarks during a live talk show with economic YouTubers held at a studio in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. He stressed, "We need to quickly enter the stablecoin market," adding, "If Korea falls behind amid the spread of dollar and treasury-based global stablecoins, there is a concern about the outflow of national wealth."
He diagnosed, "Stablecoins based on the dollar or U.S. treasury bonds are one of the core policies of the United States," and added, "It seems they are trying to dominate the virtual asset market by issuing treasury and dollar-based stablecoins."
He continued, "However, our stance on virtual assets is unclear. We are wary and hostile," and said, "I believe it will eventually be difficult to deny reality." He also warned, "Ignoring it will not make it disappear, and eventually, it could lead to a situation similar to the isolation policy of late Joseon."
Candidate Lee added, "We need to quickly enter this market and manage and monitor it so that people can participate in transactions without anxiety," and said, "It seems like we are neglecting it now, but we need to come up with measures."
