"Trump Misled by Lobbyist to Promote 'Crypto Reserve' Policy… Furious After XRP Mention"
Summary
- Former President Donald Trump was reportedly furious after realizing he was misled by a lobbyist while promoting a crypto strategic reserve policy, according to Politico.
- Trump instructed the exclusion of individuals related to XRP issuer, a client of lobbyist Brian Ballard, after learning of its mention.
- Ballard's side denied claims of a damaged relationship with the White House, calling it false reporting.
On the 8th (local time), the American political media outlet Politico reported, citing two anonymous sources, that former U.S. President Donald Trump posted a message promoting a 'crypto (cryptocurrency) strategic reserve' policy on his Truth Social account in early March, only to later realize he had been misled by a lobbyist, leading to his fury.
According to the report, an employee of a lobbying firm run by renowned American lobbyist Brian Ballard attended Trump's fundraising event and directly conveyed the message that the crypto industry should be promoted to Trump.
Subsequently, Trump learned that Ripple Labs, the issuer of one of the tokens mentioned in the post, XRP, was a client of Ballard, and in his anger, instructed White House aides to exclude the individual, the media reported.
This incident is interpreted as a clear example of the lobbying influence of the crypto industry within the political sphere and the conflicts surrounding it.
Other sources added, "Ballard has been shunned at the White House since Trump's crypto-related post," and "Some White House officials point out that Ballard is making money off President Trump's name."
Meanwhile, Ballard's side refuted, "We are accustomed to false claims from anonymous sources jealous of our success," and "We have never flaunted our relationship with the White House, nor is it true that we have been excluded from it."
