According to Fortune Crypto on the 8th (local time), it has been reported that Meta is in discussions to introduce a stablecoin, three years after ending the stablecoin project Diem.

The media outlet, citing five sources familiar with the matter, reported that "Meta is in discussions with virtual asset (cryptocurrency) companies to introduce stablecoins as a means of payment," and that "a VP in charge of products with experience in the virtual asset industry is leading these discussions."

Furthermore, three other sources stated, "Meta has been in contact with virtual asset infrastructure companies since early this year," and "while the discussions are still in the early stages, they are focusing on the core functions provided by stablecoins and their ability to be distributed without restrictions to individuals in various regions."
