On the 8th (local time), U.S. President Donald Trump urged Russia and Ukraine to agree to an unconditional 30-day ceasefire.

President Trump made this call through a post on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating, "Dialogue with Russia and Ukraine continues." He emphasized, "The United States ideally demands a 30-day unconditional ceasefire," and added, "A feasible ceasefire must be achieved, and both countries must take responsibility for the sanctity of such direct negotiations." He further pressured, "If the ceasefire is not respected, the U.S. and its allies will impose more sanctions."

President Trump continued, "Thousands of young soldiers are dying every week," expressing that both he and the U.S. desire the war to stop. He also mentioned, "As President, I will work with Europeans to maintain peace between Russia and Ukraine."

He stated, "The ceasefire should ultimately lead to peace negotiations, and this can all happen very quickly," expressing his willingness to help whenever needed.
