U.S. President Donald Trump announced that Qatar Airways has signed a contract to order over 160 aircraft from American company Boeing.

According to Reuters and AP on the 14th (local time), President Trump, who embarked on a Middle East tour as his first foreign visit since taking office, held a summit with Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, in Doha, the capital of Qatar, on the second day of his tour. He then witnessed the signing ceremony with Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer and Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg.

President Trump said, "It's a truly great, record-breaking deal worth over $200 billion," and added, "Congratulations to Boeing." He also emphasized, "It's the largest aircraft order in Boeing's history," and called it "a pretty good deal." Details about the aircraft models or the nature of the transaction included in the contract have not yet been disclosed. On this day, the two leaders signed several agreements in the economic and defense fields, including a contract related to the MQ-9B military drone.

President Trump praised Sheikh Tamim as "an outstanding person." He also mentioned that Sheikh Tamim reminds him of Saudi Arabia's de facto ruler, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, saying, "They are tall, handsome, and very smart people."
