According to cryptocurrency specialist media Cointelegraph on the 16th (local time), Eric Council Jr., who hacked the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last January and posted a false article about the approval of a Bitcoin (BTC) spot exchange-traded fund (ETF), was sentenced to 14 months in prison by the Washington federal court.

Previously, Eric Council Jr.'s side requested a sentence of 1 year and 1 day, while the U.S. prosecution sought a 2-year sentence.
