US-based Bitcoin (BTC) ecosystem developer and venture studio Thesis announced on the 29th that it has launched the mainnet of the Bitcoin financial platform 'Mezo'.
Mezo is a platform designed to enable practical financial activities such as spending or lending by issuing MUSD (a Bitcoin-backed collateral stablecoin) using Bitcoin held by users as collateral.
Mezo started its testnet last November, recording approximately $1.8 billion (about 2.4669 trillion KRW) in MUSD loans and over 154,000 transactions. Additionally, community deposits have surpassed $322 million (about 441.7196 billion KRW). The platform has focused on creating a user-friendly Bitcoin financial environment by minimizing complex on-chain elements such as slippage (price difference at execution), network fees, and bridge conversion processes.
With the mainnet launch, Mezo has introduced the Tigris incentive system. This system encompasses core technologies for liquidity design, including rewards for ecosystem participants, management of protocol revenue streams, and internal liquidity distribution structures, serving as a foundation for ecosystem expansion.
Matt Luongo, CEO of Thesis and co-founder of Mezo, stated, "The biggest insight gained from developing Bitcoin-based products over the past decade is that people perceive Bitcoin more as an asset to hold than to spend," adding, "Mezo is designed to allow diverse uses from everyday spending to asset purchases while holding Bitcoin."
Meanwhile, Mezo also plans to integrate Bitcoin earning features through everyday spending and mobile gaming within the Mezo ecosystem through a strategic partnership with Lolli, a Bitcoin rewards platform with over 600,000 users.
