Summary

  • U.S. Democratic lawmakers have requested disclosure of the attendee list for a dinner related to the 'Official Trump (TRUMP)' meme coin.
  • It was revealed that Justin Sun became the largest holder by purchasing about $20 million worth of TRUMP and also invested $75 million in the Trump family's DeFi project, WLFI.
  • These circumstances may constitute a violation of the 'Emoluments Clause' of the U.S. Constitution, and investors are advised to exercise caution given the associated uncertainties.

According to the British daily The Guardian on the 29th (local time), U.S. Democratic lawmakers have requested the Official Trump (TRUMP) meme coin team to disclose the list of dinner attendees for the Trump meme coin event.

Democratic House Representative Jamie Raskin pointed out, "The dinner, which took place at the Virginia Golf Club at the end of May, suggests the possibility that a foreign government may have provided separate funds to President Trump via virtual assets (cryptocurrency)." He added, "The public has a right to know who is putting tens of millions of dollars into the president’s pocket."

He went on to state, "Justin Sun, founder of TRON (TRX), became the biggest holder by buying about $20 million worth of TRUMP, and also invested $75 million in the Trump family's DeFi project, World Liberty Financial (WLFI)."

He further explained, "Justin Sun was indicted on fraud charges by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) last year, but in February this year, the SEC requested to halt the lawsuit, so the case is currently suspended."

He added, "Such circumstances suggest a potential violation of the Emoluments Clause of the U.S. Constitution, which prohibits federal officials from receiving financial compensation or gifts from foreign governments."
