The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has withdrawn its lawsuit against the global cryptocurrency exchange Binance.
According to Cointelegraph on the 29th (local time), the SEC and Binance jointly submitted a stipulation of dismissal to the United States District Court for the District of Columbia in order to drop the lawsuit filed by the SEC. Eleanor Terrett, host of Crypto in America, reported through X that "(the stipulation) indicates the possibility that the SEC's legal proceedings against Binance may come to an end," and "it also suggests that both parties may have found common ground for settlement or compromise."
Previously, in 2023, the SEC indicted Binance and Binance founder Changpeng Zhao for alleged violations of U.S. securities laws. In the stipulation, the SEC stated, "The Commission has determined that dismissal of this action is appropriate, based on the exercise of discretion and policy considerations."
Meanwhile, since the launch of the second Trump administration, the SEC has continued to close a series of legal disputes targeting the cryptocurrency industry.
