Scott Bessent, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, has stated that trade negotiations with China are "at an impasse."

On the 29th (local time), Secretary Bessent said in an interview with Fox News, "(The US-China trade negotiations) have somewhat reached a deadlock." Earlier this month, Secretary Bessent had held tariff negotiations with China in Switzerland. The United States and China plan to hold additional talks soon.

Secretary Bessent emphasized the need for communication between the leaders of both countries, such as through phone calls. He stated, "Given the scale and complexity of the (trade) negotiations, President Trump and President Xi need to exchange opinions directly." Initially, President Trump had planned to call President Xi within this month, but the phone conversation did not actually take place.

Secretary Bessent also mentioned upcoming trade agreements. He said, "Two large-scale trade agreements are imminent."
