Donald Trump, President of the United States, claimed that he personally stepped in to de-escalate tensions with China in the past, and criticized that China has now completely violated that agreement.
On the 30th (local time), President Trump stated through his Truth Social account, "Just two weeks ago, China was facing a severe economic crisis," adding, "Due to the high tariffs I imposed, it became virtually impossible for China to trade in the U.S. market. Countless factories shut down, and even 'civil unrest' broke out." He went on, "I judged that the situation was not good for China, and because I did not want China to collapse, I quickly worked to conclude negotiations," explaining, "As a result, everything stabilized rapidly, and China returned to normal economic activities." Trump called this "good news."
However, he continued, "China, although this may not be surprising to some, has completely violated the agreement with us," voicing strong criticism. He added, "My role as Mr. NICE GUY ends here."
