According to the Central Election Management Committee's counting status on the 3rd, as of 10:45 p.m., with 20.02% of the national votes counted, Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate, holds 47.59% (3,333,572 votes), while Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party candidate, has 44.21% (3,096,382 votes). The difference between the two candidates is 237,190 votes. Lee Jun-seok, the Reform New Party candidate, has a vote rate of 7.17%. The winner is expected to be revealed around midnight.
According to the presidential exit poll conducted jointly by the three terrestrial broadcasters (KBS, MBC, SBS) and the Korea Broadcasters Association, candidate Lee Jae-myung was predicted to win with a 51.7% vote share. Kim Moon-soo followed with 39.3%, and Lee Jun-seok with 7.7%.
The gap between candidates Lee Jae-myung and Kim Moon-soo was more than double digits. If the exit poll results are reflected in the final tally, Lee Jae-myung's victory seems likely. Candidate Lee Jun-seok has acknowledged defeat, saying, "The election results and all responsibility are mine."
This exit poll was conducted by Korea Research, Ipsos, and Korea Research International from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at 325 polling stations nationwide, surveying 80,146 voters. The margin of error is ±0.8 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
