Shiga Digital is a platform that provides a range of financial services—including customized virtual accounts, over-the-counter (OTC) trading, and foreign exchange (FX) transactions—to businesses in Africa.

With this investment from Tether, Shiga Digital plans to place blockchain technology at the core of its business and actively incorporate stablecoins, including USDT.

Tether described this investment as "an important step toward expanding financial inclusion and decentralized financial infrastructure in Africa," and added that, through collaboration with Shiga Digital, it aims to accelerate the expansion of blockchain-based financial services in emerging markets.
