On the 6th, President Lee Jae-myung appointed Kim Yong-beom, CEO of Hashed Open Research (former 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance), as Chief Policy Officer at the Presidential Office.

Kang Hoon-sik, Chief of Staff to the President, announced the presidential office's organizational restructuring plan and the first round of appointments, including the appointment of the Chief Policy Officer, at a briefing on this day.

Former Vice Minister Kim is known as a traditional economic bureaucrat and served as Vice Chairman of the Financial Services Commission and 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance during the Moon Jae-in administration. He is recognized for his extensive experience in economic policy planning, including measures to foster the KOSDAQ Market, exemplary guidelines for corporate governance, and key industry stability funds.

After retiring from public office, he led the Hashed Open Research (HOR), a subsidiary of the global blockchain investment firm Hashed, as CEO. There, he has been researching institutional foundations for the digital asset and blockchain industry, and building platforms for policy dialogue between the public and private sectors. Established in August 2023, Hashed Open Research is a specialized research organization that takes on the role of a think tank dealing with blockchain, the digital economy, and policy/regulatory frameworks.

Chief Kang stated, "Chief Kim Yong-beom is a talent with deep understanding and a global perspective on overall economic policy, having served as a World Bank economist and 1st Vice Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Finance," adding, "He especially has experience in responding to crises during COVID-19, making him the right person to execute President Lee Jae-myung's policy pledges and to overcome livelihood crises."

Furthermore, Ha Joon-kyung, a professor at Hanyang University, was appointed as Chief of Economic Growth. Chief of Staff Kang commented on Professor Ha, "He is a scholar well-versed in macroeconomics and industrial policy," and noted, "as someone who participated in formulating President Lee Jae-myung's pledges, he has a high level of understanding of the growth philosophy."

Yoo Deok-hyun, a professor at Chung-Ang University, was selected as the newly established Senior Secretary for Fiscal Planning, and Moon Jin-young, professor at Sogang University, was appointed as Chief of Social Affairs, both at the senior secretary level. Chief Kang explained, "Senior Secretary Yoo is a leading expert on fiscal policy," and "Chief Moon is known for his deep understanding of welfare systems and for proposing effective policies such as introducing the child allowance."
