U.S. SEC to Announce Virtual Asset Roundtable Lineup on the 9th… Participation from Former and Current Commissioners and Key Industry Figures

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) will hold a public roundtable discussion on virtual asset (cryptocurrency) regulation.

On the 6th, the SEC announced that it will hold a roundtable event titled 'Crypto Task Force Roundtable – DeFi and the American Spirit' at its Washington, D.C. headquarters at 1:00 p.m. (local time) on the 9th, featuring both in-person and online participation.

This meeting is part of the SEC's Crypto Task Force's 'Spring Sprint Toward Crypto Clarity' series, which aims to achieve regulatory clarity for virtual assets (cryptocurrencies). Online viewing will be available without prior registration, and on-site attendance is also permitted.

The roundtable will begin at 1:00 p.m. (local time) with opening remarks. The opening session will feature Richard B. Gabbert, Crypto Task Force Executive Secretary, along with SEC Commissioners Paul S. Atkins, Caroline A. Crenshaw, Mark T. Uyeda, and Hester M. Peirce—all expected to attend.

At 1:30 p.m. (local time), the main session titled "DeFi and the American Spirit" will take place. This session will be chaired by former SEC Commissioner Troy Paredes, with numerous panelists representing the DeFi industry and academia.

After a break, at 3:30 p.m. (local time), there will be a town hall session for Q&A and discussion with attendees. Finally, from 4:55 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. (local time), Commissioner Hester M. Peirce will deliver the closing remarks.
