President Donald Trump of the United States announced that President Xi Jinping of China has agreed to resume exports of rare earths to the United States. This move is interpreted as a signal for the resumption of trade negotiations between the two countries.

According to Reuters on the 6th (local time), President Trump said, "President Xi has agreed to restart the supply of rare earth minerals."

Previously, the Trump administration had criticized China for restricting rare earth shipments to the United States despite an agreement in Geneva last month, calling it a 'violation of the deal.'

Amid these developments, President Trump explained that, after a roughly 90-minute phone call with President Xi the previous day (the 5th), the United States and China had agreed to resume trade talks and that many of the complexities regarding the rare earths issue had been significantly resolved.

President Trump also said via social media that the two countries would hold senior-level talks in London, UK, on the 9th.

Meanwhile, President Trump announced that he does not have plans to talk with Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, with whom he had a heated clash the day before.
