On the 8th, the Office of the President appointed former Democratic Party lawmaker Woo Sang-ho as Senior Secretary for Political Affairs. Oh Kwang-su, former chief prosecutor of Daegu District Prosecutors' Office, was appointed as Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs, and Lee Kyu-yeon, former president of JTBC, was appointed as Senior Secretary for Public Relations.

Kang Hoon-sik, Chief Presidential Secretary of the Office of the President, gave a briefing at the Office of the President in Yongsan, Seoul, on the 8th and announced the appointments. Woo, who was appointed Senior Secretary for Political Affairs, is a four-term lawmaker who previously served as Democratic Party spokesperson and floor leader. During this presidential election, he served as co-chairman of the Democratic Party's Election Campaign Committee.

Oh, who was appointed Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs, is a member of the 18th class of the Judicial Research and Training Institute and was a classmate of President Lee Jae-myung. Born in Namwon, Jeonbuk, he graduated from Jeonju High School and Sungkyunkwan University Law School. He served as chief prosecutor at Cheongju and Daegu District Prosecutors' Offices, and retired from the prosecutor's office in 2015. Chief Secretary Kang commented about Oh, "He deeply understands President Lee's philosophy on prosecution reform," adding, "He will support President Lee's determination for prosecution reform."

Lee Kyu-yeon, who was appointed Senior Secretary for Public Relations, served as social editor at JoongAng Ilbo and head of news at JTBC and is currently a professor at Semyung University Graduate School of Journalism. During this presidential election, he served as the Head of Social Integration Strategy Subcommittee and Special Advisor for Public Relations at the Democratic Party's Future Economic Growth Strategy Committee and the Election Campaign Committee. Chief Secretary Kang said about Lee, "He is the first Korean to win a special award from Investigative Reporters and Editors (IRE)," and added, "He is the right person to lead the new administration's reform initiatives and communication with the people."
