President Lee's ‘Daejang-dong Trial’ Hearing Date Also Postponed...‘To Be Determined Later’

The court has also decided to postpone President Lee Jae-myung's Daejang-dong trial.
On the 10th, the 33rd Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Lee Jin-gwan) announced that the hearing date for President Lee's Daejang-dong, Baekhyeon-dong, Wirye development corruption allegations and Seongnam FC allegations, which was scheduled for the 24th, has been "designated for a later date according to Article 84 of the Constitution."
The court changed the hearing date for Jeong Jin-sang, former chief of the Political Coordination Office at the Democratic Party's Representative Office, who was indicted as a co-defendant in the case, to the 15th of next month.
The current Article 84 of the Constitution stipulates, "The President shall not be prosecuted for criminal offenses during his term of office except for cases of insurrection or treason." ‘Later appointment (provisional designation)’ refers to changing, postponing, or adjourning a hearing without designating the next date. In court practice, this is called ‘provisional designation.’
Previously, on the 9th, the 7th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court (Presiding Judge Lee Jae-kwon) also announced that the remand trial date for President Lee’s Public Official Election Act violation case was to be designated later.
