The Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) compatible sidechain for the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is set to launch its mainnet within the second quarter.

According to CoinDesk on the 11th (local time), David Schwartz, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Ripple, announced this at the APEX 2025 conference held in Singapore.

The XRPL EVM sidechain's testnet was launched earlier this year, with the ecosystem reportedly growing rapidly. Pierce Technology stated via X, "87 new companies, previously unaffiliated with XRP, are now contributing to the ecosystem in infrastructure, app development, and demand creation," and added, "Once the mainnet launches, all these elements will become part of the XRP ecosystem, potentially marking the largest onboarding in XRP history."

When the EVM sidechain is introduced to the mainnet, users will be able to generate profit through DeFi applications such as liquidity pools or smart contracts.
