President Lee Jae-myung will attend the Group of Seven (G7) summit, his first multilateral diplomatic event since taking office, following a 3-day, 1-night schedule. President Lee will depart for Canada on the 16th to attend the summit events until the 18th. Upon arrival in Calgary, Canada on this day, he will hold bilateral meetings first with key leaders from invited nations. Besides the G7 member countries—the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Japan, and Canada—leaders from seven invited nations, including South Korea, Australia, Brazil, India, Mexico, South Africa, and Ukraine, will participate in this G7 summit.
There is also a possibility of meetings with leaders of G7 nations including the United States and Japan. Wi Sung-lac, National Security Advisor, said in a briefing the previous day, "We are currently coordinating bilateral meeting schedules with several countries."
In addition, a representative from the presidential office commented on the possibility of a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stating, "There could be an opportunity for talks," and, "Preparations are underway regarding this matter."
