On the 17th (local time), Trump stated via Truth Social, "I have never made contact with Iran in any way for peace negotiations," and added, "(The related reports) are nothing but fake news that has been fabricated." He continued, "If Iran wants to talk, they will know exactly how to get in touch with me," and "If Iran had accepted the proposed negotiation plan, many lives could have been saved."

Previously, the American media outlet 'Axios', citing a well-informed government official, reported that "the Trump administration discussed issues related to talks with Iran the previous day." According to the outlet, Trump said at the G7 summit, "I am also communicating (with Iran) by phone, but it is better to meet and talk. I hope Iran agrees to negotiate."

In addition, French President Macron also told reporters that "the United States has proposed talks with Iran" and that "the situation should be watched going forward."
