On the 21st (local time), the global news outlet Semafor cited sources, stating, "Reddit is in discussions to introduce the 'World ID' system using the Orb device that scans irises." World ID authenticates the uniqueness of an account as an individual while not exposing the user's identity.
The outlet explained, "As artificial intelligence (AI) spreads false content on online platforms and governments in various countries pursue laws to restrict social media access for children and adolescents, demand for identity verification technology is growing."
However, the discussions are still in the early stages, and it is known that no concrete agreements or contracts have been made yet.
