Ukrainian military authorities announced on the 27th (local time) that they struck four Russian fighter jets at an air base in the Volgograd region of central Russia.
According to Reuters, the Ukrainian armed forces hit four Su-34 Russian fighter jets at the Marinovka base on the outskirts of Volgograd, about 900 km from the border.
Military officials stated that the operation was carried out in cooperation with Ukraine's Special Operations Forces and the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
The Russian side did not immediately comment.
Ukraine has carried out several long-range operations in recent months targeting military objectives and industrial and energy facilities inside Russia.
On the 1st, Ukraine claimed to have successfully struck approximately 40 Russian military aircraft worth about $7 billion (about ₩9.7 trillion) at four air bases deep in Russian territory using drones, including the supersonic variable-sweep strategic bomber Tu-160.
