The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has seized about $40,000 worth of cryptocurrency from a crime organization that impersonated an associate of Donald Trump, President of the United States.
The United States Attorney's Office announced on the 3rd (local time) that it is prosecuting a criminal group for impersonating the inauguration committee of President Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance. The organization illicitly acquired $40,300 worth of Tether (USDT) through this impersonation. The FBI has already tracked and fully recovered these funds.
Tether is known to have provided support to U.S. authorities in tracking the illicit funds. The United States Department of Justice stated, "We express our gratitude to Tether for assisting in the (illegal) asset recovery."
