On the 3rd (local time), the U.S. media outlet Axios, citing sources, reported that Steve Witkoff, a close associate of U.S. President Donald Trump and U.S. Middle East Special Envoy, is planning to resume nuclear talks with Iran in Oslo, Norway, next week. From the Iranian side, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi will attend the negotiations. Axios stated, "If the meeting takes place, it will be the first since the United States launched a major attack on Iran's nuclear facilities last month."
Meanwhile, the U.S. Department of Defense assessed that "Iran's nuclear program has been delayed by up to 2 years as a result of the U.S. military's bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities." Sean Parnell, spokesperson for the U.S. Department of Defense, said at a briefing held at the Pentagon on the previous day (2nd), "We have set back their (Iran's) nuclear program by at least 1 to 2 years," and "Based on all the information we have confirmed, it appears Iran's nuclear facilities have been completely destroyed."
