According to The Block, a global cryptocurrency-focused media outlet, on the 4th (local time), global crypto exchange Kraken officially announced a naming contest for the mascot of its Ethereum (ETH) Layer 2 network 'Ink.'
This contest is being held through the blockchain-based on-chain contest platform 'JokeRace.'
Through its official X (formerly Twitter), Kraken stated, "He’s attended too many events, received too much attention, and now he’s in a tough spot because he can’t answer the question ‘What’s his name?’" adding, "We want you to name him."
The mascot, featuring a purple pointed appearance, is intended to symbolize the Ink chain, which Kraken is developing on the Optimism (OP) platform.
Meanwhile, Ink is a Layer 2 network currently being developed by Kraken using the OP Stack. The recently launched Ink Foundation plans to issue 'INK' tokens, with supply capped at a total of 1 billion, to enhance the ecosystem and secure liquidity by 2025.
