Summary

  • Elon Musk officially mentioned the possibility of founding a new party, the 'America Party.'
  • Musk emphasized that focusing on 210 Senate districts could influence the passage of major bills.
  • Political circles interpret Musk's move to found a new party as a political act aimed at blocking President Trump's policies.

Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, publicly mentioned the possibility of founding a new party to compete with US President Donald Trump.

On the 4th (local time), Musk posted on his official X (formerly Twitter), saying, "Independence Day is the perfect time to decide whether to break away from the two-party system," and posted an online poll asking about support for the founding of the America Party.

He further stated in an additional post, "One way to achieve this is to focus on 210 Senate districts," emphasizing, "Given the current very slim margin in the seats, this could become a decisive force in passing key bills."

In political circles, Musk's remarks are interpreted as a specific political move targeting next year's midterm elections. By founding a new party and securing a certain number of seats, the intention appears to be to prevent President Trump's policy bills from being passed unilaterally.

Recently, Musk has not been hiding his conflict with President Trump. In particular, as differences over tariff policies became more pronounced, attention is focused on whether Musk will move towards forming an actual political force.
