Summary

  • Coinone announced that it has partnered with KakaoBank to launch the micro-savings product 'Jeogeumtong with Coinone'.
  • It was stated that customers participating in 'Jeogeumtong with Coinone' will receive Bitcoin and various other rewards.
  • It is expected that this partnership will lower the entry barrier to virtual asset investment.

The domestic virtual asset (cryptocurrency) exchange Coinone announced on the 7th that it is introducing a micro-savings product, 'Jeogeumtong with Coinone', in cooperation with KakaoBank. This is a partnered version of KakaoBank's micro-savings product 'Jeogeumtong', in which spare change under ₩1,000 in an account can be saved up to a maximum of ₩100,000.

'Jeogeumtong with Coinone' is available for application by adult customers who are already using the existing 'Jeogeumtong' product within the KakaoBank app until Sunday, July 27. Customers who do not yet have a Jeogeumtong account can participate by signing up and then switching to the new product.

Coinone is also running a Bitcoin (BTC) giveaway event for participating customers. Of those who have completed at least one saving, 700,000 customers who register a coupon in the Coinone app will receive Bitcoin worth ₩1,000. In addition, the first 100,000 new Coinone customers whose accumulated savings reach at least ₩5,000 and who register a coupon will receive Bitcoin worth ₩3,000.

Additionally, a prize event will be held in which 10 customers who make and keep at least one saving until the 27th will be selected by lottery to receive a hotel lunch course ticket for two people. All participation rewards are scheduled for delivery on the 7th of the following month. Detailed information can be found on the dedicated 'Jeogeumtong with Coinone' page within the KakaoBank app.

Lee Seong-hyeon, Co-CEO of Coinone, said, "As micro and short-term savings culture is spreading among the younger generation, we planned this partnership to establish a point of contact with virtual asset investment that can be started with modest amounts", adding, "We will continue to create various contact points so that customers can easily start investing in virtual assets by collaborating with KakaoBank in the future."
