[Breaking News] US Treasury: "There will be several trade-related announcements within the next 48 hours"

On the 7th (local time), Scott Besant, U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, stated, "There will be several announcements related to trade (agreements) within the next 48 hours."

In an interview with CNBC that day, Secretary Besant said, "Many people have changed their stance regarding trade negotiations. So last night, my email account was filled with many new proposals," and added this comment.

He continued, "The next few days will be a very busy schedule."

The Trump administration's reciprocal tariff deferral deadline is set for the 8th, and President Trump has previously stated that agreements with several countries could be announced before the deadline.

Particularly, President Trump warned that if agreements are not reached, letters specifying the unilaterally determined U.S. tariff rates would be sent starting at noon on the 7th Eastern Time (1 a.m. on the 8th Korean time), urging trade partners to yield and reach swift agreements.

Regarding the content of these letters, Secretary Besant explained, "It simply says, 'Thank you for wanting to trade with the United States. We welcome you as trade partners. If you do not want to return and negotiate, here are the tariff rates.'"
