According to Decrypt, a virtual asset (cryptocurrency) specialist media outlet, on the 7th (local time), the U.S. Department of the Treasury and nonprofit organization Coin Center have agreed to end the appeal process surrounding Tornado Cash (TORN).

Both parties reportedly determined there was no further benefit in continuing the appeal, since the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) under the U.S. Treasury lifted the sanctions on Tornado Cash in March.

Previously, OFAC added Tornado Cash to the sanctions list in 2022, after which Coin Center and other civil groups mounted legal challenges.

Peter Van Valkenburgh of Coin Center stated, "The U.S. government did not wish to assert its sanctioning authority over Tornado Cash to the end in court," adding, "With this agreement, the related legal dispute has been officially concluded."
