Summary
- It was reported that Dunamu has filed for trademark rights related to the KRW stablecoin.
- Dunamu announced that it has filed a total of 66 trademarks, including those combining various fiat currencies such as KRW, USD, EUR, and JPY with major virtual assets.
- While Dunamu is working with Naver Pay to develop a KRW stablecoin, the industry interprets this as a move to gain an early lead in the market.

Dunamu, the operator of the cryptocurrency exchange Upbit, has reportedly filed a trademark for a KRW stablecoin.
According to the industry on the 8th (local time), Dunamu applied for trademarks for names related to the KRW stablecoin, including KRWUB, UBKRW, KRWUP, and UPKRW. In addition, Dunamu has also filed trademarks combining major fiat currencies except KRW, such as the dollar (USD), euro (EUR), and yen (JPY), with major virtual assets like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). The total number of trademarks filed by Dunamu amounts to 66.
As a result, some industry sources evaluate that Dunamu has officially started efforts to secure an early foothold in the KRW stablecoin market. Previously, Dunamu announced that it would collaborate with Naver Pay to develop the KRW stablecoin.
A Dunamu spokesperson stated, "We have filed first as a proactive measure in response to the institutionalization of the relevant legal framework."
