Game infrastructure developer PlaysOut has officially announced the release of its next-generation high-performance minigame framework, 'Minigame 2.0', on the 11th.
'Minigame 2.0' is a high-performance minigame solution that addresses the limitations of previous webview-based minigames. It improves upon the slow loading and compatibility issues that were drawbacks of earlier webview-based minigames, and is compatible with major game engines such as Unity, Cocos, LayaBox, and Egret without requiring separate code modifications. Notably, it offers more than a 30% improvement in performance in terms of framerate, stability, and loading speed, and reduces initial startup times to less than 3 seconds, significantly lowering the crash rate.
This technology has already been commercialized and validated in the Chinese market. After WeChat introduced its native rendering-based mini programs two years ago, other major platforms such as Douyin, Meituan, and Bilibili have adopted the Minigame 2.0 model. Market research firm DataEye predicts that the size of the Chinese minigame market will exceed $10 billion by 2025.
PlaysOut plans to accelerate its full-scale global expansion starting from the third quarter of this year. To this end, it is also set to unveil features that expand monetization and engagement for developers, including multilingual support, a data analysis hub, and a user community module. In particular, the company aims to strengthen collaborations with local enterprises.
A PlaysOut representative stated, "The mobile game market is expected to reach $188.9 billion this year, with the mobile segment alone exceeding $100 billion," adding, "The Minigame 2.0 model will establish itself as the global standard encompassing content, technology, and operations."
