U.S. reauthorizes H20 chip sales to China... Jensen Huang's first participation in China Supply Chain Expo
Summary
- CEO Jensen Huang officially announced that the U.S. administration has reauthorized NVIDIA's H20 chip exports to China.
- NVIDIA is showing a strategy to minimize policy risks in the Chinese market by launching new products such as RTX Pro and participating in the supply chain expo.
- The H20 chip has been the best-selling product in the Chinese AI market since 2024, and the decision to resume exports is considered crucial for maintaining competitiveness in China.

The Trump administration in the United States has allowed American semiconductor company NVIDIA to resume exporting the H20 chip to China after three months.
On the 15th, CEO Jensen Huang officially announced the resumption of H20 chip exports to China by the U.S. administration during an interview with China Central Television (CCTV) in China.
He added that a new graphics card called 'RTX Pro' would be launched, explaining that this graphics card is specially designed for computer graphics, digital twins, and AI, and is therefore very important.
He stressed that China's innovation is impressive and that it is vital for American companies to compete in China.
NVIDIA also shared these matters on its official blog, stating that it has applied to the U.S. government for approval to resume H20 sales and will soon begin supplying the product.
So far, NVIDIA has been selling the lower-spec H20 chip to China, instead of its latest AI chips, but in response to the recent Trump administration's restrictions on H20 exports citing national security, CEO Huang has been critical of this move.
The H20 chip was designed for the Chinese market and has been the top-selling product in the Chinese AI market since 2024. However, in April, the U.S. Department of Commerce imposed restrictions on its export along with AMD's MI308, due to concerns that AI chips could be used for military purposes.
Last week, CEO Huang met with President Trump to explain the need to resume exports, promising job creation, onshoring (attracting production back to the United States), and maintaining U.S. global AI leadership.
As a result, it appears that the U.S. administration has responded by granting permission for the resumption of H20 chip exports to China.
Meanwhile, CEO Huang is visiting China from the 16th to the 20th to attend the 3rd China International Supply Chain Expo in Beijing.
NVIDIA plans to unveil AI semiconductor products exclusively for China in September, and this marks the first time the company is participating in the expo. The visit is seen as a move to gauge local market responses and minimize policy risks.
