South Korea, the United States, and Japan will hold the 15th Vice Foreign Ministers’ Consultation in Japan on the 18th.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on the 16th that the Korea-U.S.-Japan Vice Foreign Ministers' Meeting will be held in Japan. This regular meeting is held to discuss trilateral cooperation on North Korea’s nuclear program as well as regional and global issues.

Park Yoon-joo, First Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, and Japan's Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Takehiro Funakoshi are scheduled to attend. The meeting comes 9 months after it was last held in Seoul in October last year, and is the first since the beginning of the Lee Jae-myung administration and the Donald Trump administration in the U.S.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the meeting will involve "wide-ranging and in-depth discussions on the Korean Peninsula and regional situation, economic security, technology, energy, and the advancement of Korea-U.S.-Japan cooperation."

Vice Minister Park is also scheduled to hold separate bilateral consultations with the United States and Japan on the occasion of this meeting.
