Summary

  • Roman Storm, co-founder of Tornado Cash, reported that the defense raised issues regarding the credibility of the prosecution's evidence.
  • Storm's side claimed that there was no trace linking the victim's cryptocurrency to Tornado Cash.
  • An Ethereum security expert also questioned the prosecution's asset tracking results, mentioning the non-use of Tornado Cash.

As the trial of Tornado Cash's co-founder Roman Storm enters its second week, the defense has raised questions about the credibility of the prosecution's evidence.

According to The Block on the 21st (local time), Storm's attorney David Patton recently argued that the testimony provided by the victim, whom the prosecution called as a witness, may not be accurate. The victim testified last week, saying, "I was scammed in a crypto investment in 2021, and I heard from an asset recovery service that part of the stolen funds went through Tornado Cash."

However, Storm's side stated, "After tracking the funds over the weekend, we could not find any trace connecting the victim's cryptocurrency to Tornado Cash," and claimed, "the prosecution is proceeding with the trial based on incorrect information."

Taylor Monahan, an Ethereum security expert, also questioned the prosecution's tracking results on X, saying, "Fraudsters do not use Tornado Cash." She said, "The prosecution was already aware that the victim's funds never went to Tornado Cash," adding, "I do not know what they were tracking. Tornado Cash is not involved here."
