Choi Hui-yeong, nominee for Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, expressed a cautious stance regarding the domestic introduction of P2E (Play to Earn) games. This is based on his view that legal frameworks related to virtual assets (cryptocurrency) must first be arranged.

On the 22nd, nominee Choi, in a written response to the confirmation hearing questionnaire submitted to the office of Kim Seung-su of the People Power Party, stated, "It is a priority for a legislative system concerning user protection and virtual asset management to be established through the Financial Services Commission," and added, "Afterward, a comprehensive judgment should be made to decide whether to allow P2E games."

P2E games are structured so users earn virtual assets as rewards. In Korea, they are in fact not permitted due to issues such as gambling concerns. The industry asserts that institutional improvements are needed to align with the global gaming market trends.

Additionally, nominee Choi also demonstrated a cautious attitude regarding the introduction of a diagnostic code for gaming disorder. He responded, "There is insufficient scientific evidence to classify it as a disease, and it remains a subject of controversy in several countries," and added, "Classifying the use of game content under a disease code could shrink the gaming industry and exports."
