Donald Trump, President of the United States, warned that countries that do not agree to market opening will face much higher tariffs than before.

On the 23rd (local time), President Trump announced on his own social platform, Truth Social, "We will only lower tariffs for countries that open their markets to the United States" and said, "Otherwise, we will impose much higher tariffs."

He referred to U.S.-Japan trade negotiations, stating, "Market opening is the foundation of fair trade," and called for cooperation from various countries.

This is seen as an intention to pressure major negotiating countries, including South Korea, to expand imports of U.S. products and remove non-tariff barriers ahead of the reciprocal tariff policy expected to take effect on the 1st of next month.
