NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang evaluated the three artificial intelligence (AI) executive orders signed by U.S. President Donald Trump, saying, "These three initiatives will fundamentally transform America’s position over the next several years."
On the 24th (local time), Huang told Fox News in an interview, "(President Trump) will cause the U.S. technology stack to spread around the globe at a remarkable speed," adding, "What the president announced today will accelerate AI innovation in the United States and, based on all the infrastructure and energy he will introduce, will also speed up AI adoption within the country."
He emphasized, "We are now at an inflection point, a period of transformation in technology. For the first time in 60 years, we are reimagining computing. This is a truly significant development."
Earlier that day, President Trump, at the 'AI Winning the Competition Summit' held in Washington, DC, announced the White House's AI action plan and then signed three AI-related executive orders. The orders include: △ Federal agencies are to expedite the permitting process for establishing AI data center infrastructure; △ Promoting the export of U.S. AI models through federal agencies; △ Ensuring AI models do not adopt ideological bias theories such as 'woke' (progressive cultural agenda).
When asked how President Trump came to allow the resumption of NVIDIA H20 chip sales in China, Huang replied, "I did my best to relay all the information. The key point here is that America wins when U.S. technology becomes the global standard."
He continued, "The reason the H20 chip’s re-entry was so important is that China is home to 50% of the world’s AI researchers and tens of thousands of AI startups," adding, "We want to ensure every opportunity to compete in that market and attract developers. If that happens, half the world’s AI researchers will develop on top of the U.S. tech stack, and as that technology spreads and is adopted globally, we become the global standard."
He went on to say, "Just as the global economy was built on the dollar, we now want the world to build on these technology standards." When asked about the possibility of Chinese companies replicating the H20 chip in the near future, Huang suggested that U.S. technological innovation could adequately respond.
He said, "To my knowledge, there is no other industry in the world that has so long dominated technology, innovation, and leadership as the U.S. computer industry. We are prepared to compete head-to-head with anyone. We will continue innovating at a pace the world has never seen."
He also underscored the importance of energy growth. "If we don’t have energy, we cannot become a global leader in AI," he said, adding, "What really impressed me was how clear President Trump made his support for energy and energy growth from day one. Without energy growth, how can new industries and growth opportunities be created?"
