Lee Jun-seok elected as leader of the Reform Party… Approval rate 98.22%

Lee Jun-seok has been elected as the new leader of the Reform Party.

On the 27th, the Reform Party held a national convention at the National Assembly Members' Office Building and announced that Lee, who ran unopposed, was elected as the party leader with an approval rate of 98.22%.

The Reform Party’s leadership election proceeded as a yes-or-no vote since Lee was the sole candidate. To be elected, a candidate must obtain an approval rate of at least 30%.

Voting was conducted online from the 25th to the 26th. The results reflected 70% from party member votes and 30% from a public opinion poll.

Lee was first elected as the inaugural leader of the Reform Party at its founding in January last year and served until May of the same year. Afterward, former lawmaker Heo Eun-ah was elected as leader, but stepped down from the post this February. Subsequently, floor leader Cheon Ha-ram has served as acting leader.

Meanwhile, Kim Seong-yeol (former chief spokesperson), Ju Isaac (Seodaemun-gu council member, Seoul), and Kim Jeong-cheol (lawyer) were elected as supreme council members in first to third place, respectively.
