39.67 million Apply for Consumer Coupons in First Week; ₩7.12 Trillion Distributed

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 28th that, within just a week of the first round of applications for the 'Livelihood Recovery Consumer Coupon,' 39,673,421 people, or 78.4% of all eligible recipients, had completed their applications.
According to the Ministry, the support funds distributed over the past week totaled ₩7.12 trillion. Compared to the application rates for the Emergency Disaster Relief Funds in 2020 (54.4%) and the National Subsidies in 2021 (68.2%), the Ministry explained that the application rate rose by 24.0 percentage points and 10.2 points, respectively, indicating a much faster pace than in the past.
By region, Incheon recorded the highest application rate nationwide at 83.7% (2,526,630 people). Jeollanam-do had the lowest number of applicants at 70.4% (1,248,487 people). In Seoul, 7,231,588 people (79.2% of eligible recipients) submitted applications.
By payment method, 29,727,451 applied via credit or debit card, 3,223,629 via prepaid cards, 6,115,879 via local gift certificates (mobile or card), and 606,462 via paper certificates.
From the 26th, online applications for consumer coupons lifted the 'weekday system' based on year of birth. Offline applications also saw the weekday system lifted from this day. Until the application deadline of 6:00 PM on September 12, anyone can apply regardless of year of birth.
