He underscored his intention not to exceed the previously set August 1 trade negotiation deadline. President Trump added, "(August 1) is a significant day for the United States."
Meanwhile, the United States and China reached a tentative agreement on the previous day (29th) to extend the high tariff moratorium for 90 days in the 'second truce.' Scott Besant, the U.S. Treasury Secretary, said in a CNBC interview on the same day, "(Both countries) could hold additional meetings within 90 days."
