Trump continues to pressure Powell…"Not qualified to be Fed Chair"

U.S. President Donald Trump has once again pressed Jerome Powell, Chair of the U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed).

On the 31st (local time), President Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social, "'Too Late Powell has done it again,'" and added, "(Chair Powell) is always too late and political, so he is not qualified to serve as Fed Chair." This criticism was made regarding the Fed's decision at the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting the previous day (30th) to hold the benchmark interest rate steady at 4.25~4.50%.

President Trump stressed, "(Chair Powell) is causing the United States trillions of dollars in damage." He further stated, "'Too Late' Powell is a total loser," and emphasized, "The American people are paying the ultimate price."
