U.S. President Donald Trump designated Vice President J.D. Vance as the next presidential candidate for the 'MAGA' (Make America Great Again) camp.

At a White House executive order signing ceremony on the 5th (local time), when asked if he considered Vice President Vance as the MAGA successor, President Trump replied, "He is the most likely." He added, "It's still early to talk about this, but Vice President Vance is doing a great job," and explained, "For now, he seems to be the strongest candidate." Trump also mentioned Secretary of State Marco Rubio, another leading presidential candidate, saying he is "someone who could work with Vice President Vance in some capacity." In a May interview, Trump said, "I don't want to get involved, but typically the vice president is in a favorable position."

On this day, President Trump announced that he had narrowed down the candidates for the next U.S. Federal Reserve (Fed) Chair to four. He said, "The list of potential next Fed Chair candidates includes two people named 'Kevin' out of a total of four," and added, "There are many qualified people, and one of them will become the next chair."

So far, former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh and National Economic Council (NEC) Chair Kevin Hassett are being mentioned as leading candidates for Fed Chair. Both are considered figures who have supported President Trump's call for lower interest rates. Although the names of the other two were not revealed, the market speculates that Christopher Waller, a Fed Governor who voiced a minority opinion in favor of a rate cut at the July FOMC meeting, is being considered.

On the same day, in a CNBC interview, President Trump stated, "Treasury Secretary Scott Besant has excluded himself from the list of (Fed Chair) candidates by his own will."
