Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the dismissal of Intel CEO Lip-Bu Tan over allegations of ties to China.

On the 7th (local time), President Trump stated on his social media platform Truth Social, "The Intel CEO is in a serious conflict-of-interest situation," and added, "He must resign immediately." President Trump further remarked, "There is no other way to resolve this issue."

CEO Tan is a Malaysian-born Chinese-American. After serving as CEO of semiconductor company Cadence Design Systems, he was appointed as the new CEO of Intel, which has been facing management difficulties, this March.

Previously, Senator Tom Cotton, Chairman of the U.S. Senate Intelligence Committee, sent a letter to Intel’s board demanding an explanation regarding suspicions that CEO Tan is associated with semiconductor companies known to be connected to the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese military. It is also reported that CEO Tan, through the venture fund he operates, has invested in hundreds of Chinese companies.
