Bloomberg reported on the 7th (local time) that Christopher Waller, a member of the Fed, is being strongly mentioned as a leading candidate for the next Fed Chair.
Citing multiple sources, Bloomberg stated, “Aides to President Donald Trump were deeply impressed by Governor Waller's determination to implement prediction-based policy and his comprehensive understanding of the Fed system.” Bloomberg added, “Governor Waller has met with President Trump’s aides regarding the (next Fed Chair) role, but has not yet met President Trump in person.”
Earlier, President Trump announced on the 6th that he had narrowed down the candidates for Adriana Kugler’s successor on the Fed Board to three. Bloomberg stated, “Vice President JD Vance, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick are participating in the committee for candidate selection.”
