Paul Atkins, Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), referenced the lawsuit between Ripple, the issuer of XRP, and the SEC.
According to Cointelegraph on the 11th (local time), Commissioner Atkins stated that "the conclusion of the lawsuit between the SEC and Ripple provides an opportunity for court disputes to shift to the policy-making table." Commissioner Atkins further noted, "(The conclusion of the lawsuit) could also be a chance to establish a clear regulatory framework that promotes innovation and protects investors."
Previously, on the 8th, the SEC and Ripple jointly submitted an agreement to voluntarily withdraw their respective appeals and cross-appeals filed with the appellate court. The SEC and Ripple plan to each bear their own litigation costs.
Meanwhile, as of 3:24 p.m. today, XRP is trading at $3.14 on CoinMarketCap, down 3.85% from the previous day.
