Taiko Completes Phase 1 Rollout of Preconfirmation
Summary
- Taiko announced that it has successfully completed the introduction of Phase 1 transaction preconfirmation on the Ethereum (ETH) mainnet.
- This implementation is being evaluated as having enhanced scalability by achieving approximately 2-second transaction speeds while maintaining the network's decentralization.
- Taiko also announced that it plans to introduce a permissionless preconfirmation mechanism in the Phase 2 upgrade.

Taiko (TAIKO), the first Based Rollup project in the Ethereum (ETH) ecosystem, has successfully completed the implementation of Phase 1 of transaction preconfirmation.
Taiko announced on the 13th that it had successfully implemented Phase 1 of preconfirmation on the Ethereum (ETH) mainnet. This rollout was carried out from August 11 to 13, targeting the preconfirmers whitelist.
In particular, the introduction of preconfirmation drew attention as it achieved approximately 2-second transaction speeds while maintaining network decentralization. It is being evaluated as having significantly increased scalability by overcoming Ethereum's structural limitation, where one previously had to choose between speed and decentralization.
Joaquin Mendes, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Taiko Labs, said, "With the introduction of preconfirmation, both developers and users can now secure decentralization and scalability," and added, "This will make it possible to develop a new generation of DApps and Ethereum."
Additionally, Taiko collaborated with Chainbound, Gattaca, and Nethermind to ensure stable operation of the preconfirmation. Francesco Mosterts, co-founder of Chainbound, commented, "Preconfirmation is a new milestone for Ethereum development" and stated, "It will deliver the best outcomes for users, developers, and validators alike."
Kubi Mensah, CEO of Gattaca, said, "I'm pleased to see the future of Based Rollups being realized," and celebrated, "We are working to have a positive impact not just for Taiko's users but for the entire Ethereum ecosystem."
Tomasz Stańczak, founder of Nethermind, evaluated: "With this technical integration, scalability is possible without compromising the core principles of Ethereum. We are satisfied with the results."
Meanwhile, Taiko plans to introduce a permissionless preconfirmation mechanism in the upcoming Phase 2 upgrade.
